Students electing to major in Recreation, Park and Tourism Management can choose from two concentrations: Recreation and Park Management and Tourism Management. Feel free to look over the Program Requirements Sheet and to conact any of the RPTM faculty with questions.
Recreation and Park Management
Students in this concentration acquire knowledge, skills, and abilities through course work and "hands on" real world experience. All students complete a capstone semester long internship prior to graduation. Internships are available locally, across the country and internationally. Graduates enjoy careers in community recreation, parks and protected areas, inclusive recreation, campus recreation and wellness, corporate recreation/fitness, correctional recreation, military recreation, senior centers, youth sports, and non-profit organizations such as Young Men's and Women's Christian Associations. Upon successful completion of this program, students are eligible to become Certified Park and Recreation Professionals through the National Recreation and Park Association.
Tourism Management
Students in this concentration acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for tourism service management and sustainable destination development. A business administration minor is built into this concentration. All students complete a capstone semester long internship prior to graduation. Internships are available locally, across the country and internationally. Graduates enjoy careers in resorts, theme parks, outdoor adventures, special events, convention and visitors bureaus, regional planning, and eco tourism.
